FREE WORKSHOP

SUFFOLK COUNTY DEMOCRATS

Most candidates lose
before they open their mouths.

Your message is not the problem. The way you are saying it is. The Message Lab is a free, hands-on 2-hour workshop that gives Democratic candidates and their teams the tools to build a message that voters will actually hear, believe, and act on.

Why this workshop exists

Suffolk County has winnable seats. Democrats are losing them.

Not because the candidates are weak. Because most candidates have never been taught how to talk to voters who do not already agree with them. They lead with their resume instead of the voter's life. They use policy language that activates nothing. They get attacked and go silent.

The Message Lab fixes that. In two hours, you will walk out with a complete, practical message toolkit built around proven frameworks from the best political communicators in the country, adapted for the specific realities of running in Suffolk County.

The Problem

Most campaign websites talk about the candidate. Voters need to see themselves.

The fix

You will rewrite your hero section on the spot using a fill-in-the-blank formula.

The Problem

Abstract policy language activates nothing in a competitive district.

The fix

You will learn to translate your goals into the values your audience already holds.

The Problem

When attacked, most candidates either freeze or over-explain.

The fix

You will practice a three-step Defensive Pivot with a real attack from your partner.

Shala Pascucci

Executive Board, Smithtown Democratic Committee

Shala Pascucci knows what it feels like to stand at a voter's door and wonder if what you just said actually landed.

She ran for Suffolk County Legislature as a Democrat in a competitive district and outperformed expectations, not because the district was easy, but because she had learned how to talk to voters who did not start out on her side. She is currently serving her second term on the Kings Park School Board, where she won in a community that does not hand Democrats easy wins.

Shala runs her own web design and marketing practice and has worked with Democratic candidates and committees across Suffolk County on campaign messaging, websites, voter-facing materials, and practical communication strategy. Before campaigns, she spent years in social work and education, first as a program director and team leader, then as a high school English teacher. Both careers taught her the same thing: the most important skill in any room is the ability to meet people where they are and say something they can actually hear.

That is what this workshop is about.
