OUR MISSION

The Smithtown Democratic Committee is the most local branch of the Democratic Party, part of the Suffolk County Democratic Committee. We are the volunteers whose grassroots activities work to advance Democratic candidates and elected officials, good government, and activism.

We are the most local elected officials you have as a registered Democratic voter - our Committee Members each represent an Election District, and our committee is governed by the Chair, Vice Chairs, Secretary, Treasurer, and other members. The Committee screens candidates, helps to qualify them for the ballot through petitioning, raises money to support our operations and our candidates, and helps to organize campaigns to get Democrats in our town, county, state, and nationally.

TOWN COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

Each of Suffolk's ten towns has its own Democratic Committee, with a chair and officers who serve the Town's Democratic committee. Towns are geographically divided into Election Districts and each district has two Democratic committee members, responsible to serve the voters in that neighborhood. Town committee members are simultaneously members of the Suffolk County Democratic Committee.
